CPPCC Vice Chairman and Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang Briefed the Press at the Press Center of the Chinese Delegation

On the morning of 13 September 2013, CPPCC Vice Chairman and Minister of Science and Technology agave a briefing to the press at the Press Center of the Chinese delegation to the SCO Bishkek Summit. He talked about progress in China's scientific and technological innovation as well as multilateral cooperation in science and technology under the SCO, and answered questions on the role of scientific and technological innovation in the building of the Silk Road Economic Belt and cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan in science and technology.

Wan Gang said during the second Science and Technology Ministers' Meeting of SCO Member States held in Kazakhstan on 11 September, parties all agreed that continuous efforts should be made to create favorable conditions for innovation and progress in science and technology. In the meeting of the Council of Heads of States to be held this afternoon, leaders of the SCO Member States will bear witness to the signing of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation Between SCO Member States, which will usher in a new chapter in scientific and technological cooperation within the SCO framework.

Over 30 journalists from People's Daily, Xin Hua News Agency, CCTV, China Radio International, Kabar News Agency of Kyrgyzstan, Slovo Kyrgyzstana, OTOK, AKI Press, Bishkek Evening, Associated Press and Reuters attended the briefing.

After the briefing, Wu Peng, head of the Press Center of the Chinese delegation and Vice Director General of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China gave an exclusive interview to Voice of Russia.
