Four New Confirmed Cases Reported in Beijing

2020/03/07

According to the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, the city reported four new confirmed cases on 6 March, among which three were imported from Italy and the other local. The local case was originally treated as a suspected one on 6 February when the patient was admitted to a designated hospital. On 20 February, the patient was discharged from hospital after being tested negative in nucleic acid testing for three times, and was moved to a quarantine center for 14-day medical observation due to limited quarantine conditions at home. A re-examination on 5 March found positive results in nucleic acid testing, and through expert consultation and lung imaging findings, it was then confirmed as a COVID-19 case.

The city also newly reported 13 suspected cases, 99 close contacts and five cured and discharged cases on Friday. As of 24:00, 6 March, the city had reported 11 cases imported from overseas, 426 confirmed cases, 303 cured and discharged cases, and 8 fatal cases. There are still 35 suspected cases. Among all 3,545 close contacts, 470 are still under quarantined medical observation.

12 districts of Beijing have been reporting no new confirmed cases for 14 consecutive days or more, and no cases have ever been reported in Pinggu District since the outbreak began.
