State Council: National Mourning to Be Held on 4 April

The State Council announced its decision today that China will hold a national mourning on 4 April 2020, for martyrs who lost their lives in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak and compatriots who died of the disease.

During the commemoration, national flags will fly at half-mast across the country and at all Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, and public recreational activities will be suspended across the country.

At 10:00 am on 4 April, Chinese people nationwide will observe three minutes of silence to mourn the deceased, while air raid sirens and horns of automobiles, trains and ships will wail in grief.
