Beijing CDC: Confirmed Case Concealing Symptoms during Isolation Now under ICU Treatment

2020/04/06

On 4 April, Beijing reported a new confirmed case of COVID-19 imported from the UK. The patient had a brief stay of less than 24 hours at her home residence in Beijing, in the Tuanjiehu apartment building of Tuanjiehu Neighborhood, Chaoyang District. Although she displayed symptoms during the quarantine period, the patient failed to report. She returned home on the same day when she completed quarantine and had a high fever that night. The patient is now admitted to an ICU ward for medical treatment.

Relevant departments once again cautioned those in quarantine to honestly and timely report their health conditions should any abnormal health conditions appear during the medical observation period. Otherwise, they may miss and delay the best opportunity for treatment and even increase the risk of infecting others. The policy measure of placing all international arrivals in Beijing regardless of final destinations under quarantine in designated places and giving everyone nucleic acid tests starting from 0:00 25 March is exactly aimed at minimizing the social spreading of the infectious disease.
