NHC Update on COVID-19 Cases in China

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 19 July, the following were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 22 confirmed cases (5 imported, including 3 in Sichuan, 1 in Inner Mongolia and 1 in Shandong; 17 local in Xinjiang);

b) no fatal cases;

c) 1 suspected case (imported in Shanghai);

d) 24 cured and discharged cases;

e) 465 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) 2 more severe cases than the previous day.

2. As of 24:00, 19 July, among all the imported cases, 83 confirmed cases (including 3 severe cases) were still under treatment and 4 suspected cases awaiting test results. In total, 2012 imported cases had been confirmed, 1,929 cases cured and discharged, and no fatal cases reported.

3. As of 24:00, 19 July, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 249 confirmed cases (including 5 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 78,799 cured and discharged cases;

c) 4,634 fatal cases;

d) 83,682 confirmed cases;

e) 4 suspected cases pending test results; and

f) 772,333 close contacts traced (including 7,204 still under medical observation).

4. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 19 July, the following asymptomatic cases were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 13 new cases (4 imported);

b) 1 case developed into confirmed case (imported);

c) 5 cases released from medical observation (3 imported); and

d) 154 cases still under medical observation (87 imported).

5. As of 24:00, 19 July, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 2,386 confirmed cases:

a) 1,885 in the Hong Kong SAR (including 1,294 discharged cases and 12 fatal cases);

b) 46 in the Macao SAR (all discharged from hospital); and

c) 455 in the Taiwan region (including 440 discharged cases and 7 fatal cases).
