NHC Update on COVID-19 Cases in China

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 23 July, the following were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 21 confirmed cases (6 imported, including 5 in Guangdong and 1 in Shanghai; 15 local, including 13 in Xinjiang and 2 in Liaoning);

b) no fatal cases;

c) 1 new suspected case (imported in Shanghai);

d) 18 cured and discharged cases;

e) 66 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) 1 more severe case than the previous day.

2. As of 24:00, 23 July, among all the imported cases, 78 confirmed cases (including 2 severe cases) were still under treatment and 2 suspected cases awaiting test results. In total, 2029 imported cases had been confirmed, 1,951 cases cured and discharged, and no fatal cases reported.

3. As of 24:00, 23 July, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 243 confirmed cases (including 12 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 78,873 cured and discharged cases;

c) 4,634 fatal cases;

d) 83,750 confirmed cases;

e) 2 suspected cases pending test results; and

f) 773,802 close contacts traced (including 7,526 still under medical observation).

4. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 23 July, the following asymptomatic cases were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 43 new cases (9 imported);

b) 11 cases developed into confirmed cases;

c) 4 cases released from medical observation (2 imported); and

d) 204 cases still under medical observation (96 imported).

5. As of 24:00, 23 July, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 2,750 confirmed cases:

a) 2,249 in the Hong Kong SAR (including 1,379 discharged cases and 15 fatal cases);

b) 46 in the Macao SAR (all discharged from hospital); and

c) 455 in the Taiwan region (including 440 discharged cases and 7 fatal cases).
