The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Organizes Another Trip to Shenzhen for a Delegation of Envoys

From December 19 to 22, 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized another trip to Shenzhen for a delegation of 23 envoys. Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao accompanied the delegation throughout the trip.

Deputy Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee Wang Weizhong and Mayor of Shenzhen Chen Rugui met with the delegation. Wang Weizhong said that the progress made by Shenzhen on its course of development over the past 40 years may cost some international metropolises a hundred years. It has shown the world the majestic power of China's reform and opening up. Shenzhen will carry forward its pioneering, innovative and practical spirit and strive to be a leading example of smooth domestic circulation and connected domestic and international markets. Shenzhen is ready to exchange development experiences with other countries in such fields as science and technology, industry, healthcare, education, economy and trade, uphold opening up and make greater contribution to building a community with a shared future for mankind under the framework of Belt and Road cooperation.

Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao said that the development of Shenzhen represents the great practice and tremendous achievements of China's reform and opening up. He hopes the envoys could have a deep understanding of the achievements and experience of Shenzhen's development over the 40 years from this trip, and promote the exchanges and cooperation between Shenzhen and all countries for common development and prosperity.

The envoys visited the exhibition of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone at Qianhai International Conference Center, to have a close up feeling of China's miracle of Shenzhen's growth into an international metropolis from scratch over 40 years. They paid tribute to the statue of Comrade Deng Xiaoping at Lianhuashan Park and enjoyed the panorama view of the city, discussed about the 5G era with foreign senior managers at Songshan Lake, Huawei's largest R&D base in the world and learned about the cloud platform of smart city at the world's fourth tallest building, Ping An Finance Center to feel the Shenzhen speed and China's skyscraper. They had a test drive of BYD's new energy vehicles to understand China's vision of green and ecological development and its responsibility to tackle global climate change as a major power, experienced the IOT plus of smart interconnection, smart cooperation and smart decision-making at Mawan Smart Port, embraced the vision of people-centered urban development and the warmth of an ecological and livable city at Baihua Child-friendly Block, and learned about China's outstanding contribution to the international COVID-19 response at Mindray.

The envoys applauded the speed, height and warmth of Shenzhen's development and attributed the rapid development of Shenzhen to the far-sighted leadership of generations of China's top leaders. The tremendous achievements made during the past 40 years since the reform and opening up are a great miracle created by the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The harmonious development in economic, scientific, innovative, environmental, cultural and other fields and the urban construction focusing on people's wellbeing manifest the people-centered governance concept of the Chinese government. The successful practice in Shenzhen has provided inspiration for all countries and brought important opportunities of cooperation.
