Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu Attends the Video Meeting of BRICS Coordinators

2021/09/09

On September 7, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister and Coordinator of China's BRICS Affairs Ma Zhaoxu attended the Video Meeting of BRICS Coordinators. Special Envoy on BRICS Affairs and Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wang Xiaolong and others also participated in the meeting.

Ma Zhaoxu said that in the face of a once-in-a-century pandemic and unprecedented global changes, as well as flare-ups of international and regional hotspots, the global economic recovery is still on shaky ground. As emerging markets and large developing countries, BRICS countries shoulder more significant responsibilities and missions. China hopes that BRICS countries will take the upcoming 13th BRICS Summit as an opportunity to promote and practice real multilateralism, further deepen practical cooperation in public health, economy, trade, finance, people-to-people exchanges and other fields, and inject new impetus into the joint efforts of BRICS countries and other countries to fight against COVID-19, revitalize the economy and maintain stability.

The meeting took stock of the progress in all-round cooperation among BRICS countries, mainly discussed the results of the 13th BRICS Summit, and made final political preparations for the Summit.
