In his address, Ambassador Sun Gongyi underscored that language is the greatest invention of mankind and the core of human civilization. As Mauritius advocates multiculturalism, the Mauritian government has integrated Chinese teaching into its national education system, propelling the development of the Chinese education rapidly. In recent years, China and Mauritius have carried out close exchanges and cooperation in the field of education with China sending more than 30 volunteer teachers to Mauritius annually to promote the development of Chinese education in Mauritius. The Chinese Embassy has always supported Chinese teaching in Mauritius and donated teaching materials and equipment to Chinese schools. The donation of teaching materials and equipment to three Chinese schools, namely, Chinese Middle School, Guangming Chinese School and Huaxia Chinese School, aims at helping those schools improve their teaching environment. It is believed that more and more Mauritian friends will learn Chinese in the future who will act as a bridge and bond of Sino-Mauritian friendship and promote the development of bilateral friendly relations in a deeper and broader field.

For her part, Mrs. Aneeta Ghoorah highlighted in her speech that Chinese culture is an important part of multiculturalism in Mauritius. The Mauritian government supports the development of Chinese education in Mauritius. There are currently more than 30 schools offering Chinese courses. The Chinese communities in Mauritius have been carrying out Chinese teaching for more than 100 years. While Chinese schools continue to thrive, they are also confronted with difficulties such as insufficient number of teachers and shortage of teaching supplies. For a long time, the Chinese Embassy has supported Chinese education in Mauritius and worked closely with the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology of Mauritius, donating teaching materials and equipment to Chinese schools for many times, which makes important contributions to strengthening cultural exchanges between the two countries and promoting the development of Chinese education.

On behalf of three Chinese schools, Mr. Ah Noo Lam Cham Kee, Principal of Chinese Middle School, underlined that it is the mission of the Chinese schools to inherit and promote Chinese culture. The Chinese schools will make full use of their teaching resources, further improve the teaching level, and promote the development of Chinese education.

During the event, the Chinese Embassy handed over the education funds of " Exemplary Schools of Chinese Education" of Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation to Chinese Middle School, and donated Chinese teaching materials, projectors and other teaching equipment to Huaxia Chinese School and Guangming Chinese School. The teachers and students from Chinese Middle School presented calligraphy, painting, paper-cutting and other techniques to the guests, and performed traditional Chinese musical instruments, songs, dances and other programs as well.
