Ambassador Li Jie Meets with Special Assistant to the President for Press & Public Relations Anthony Bwalya

On 28th December, 2021, H.E. Mr. Li Jie, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, met with Special Assistant to the President for Press & Public Relations Anthony Bwalya. They exchanged views on bilateral relations and issues of common concern.

Ambassador Li congratulated Mr. Bwalya for his appointment, and said that Zambia is the first country in southern Africa to establish diplomatic relations with China. The deep traditional “all-weather” friendship between the two countries becomes a model of unity and friendship among developing countries. Recently, the two sides enjoy frequent high-level exchanges, and are deepening practical cooperation. The Chinese side stands ready to work with the New Dawn Government to lift bilateral collaboration in all fields to a higher level, benefiting the two peoples.

Ambassador Li said that as the second largest economy in the world and important source of investment of Zambia, China will encourage Chinese enterprises to invest more in Zambia, with the value added chain lengthened and technology transfer enhanced, hoping that Zambia could create a better environment for business. 

Special Assistant Bwalya said that the Zambia-China friendship goes way back, and grows ever stronger as time goes by. On behalf of President Hichilema, he extends sincerest gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their selfless help to Zambia, and expresses appreciation for China’s support to Zambia in the fields of education, infrastructure, and public health. He wishes that China will continuously support Zambia’s economic development and people's livelihood improving.
