On July 6, 2022, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei took an exclusive interview with the Kuwait TV prior to the Corban Festival.

At the outset, Ambassador Zhang extended his sincere greetings and best wishes to the government and people of Kuwait. He noted that the Corban Festival, known as Eid al-Adha in China, is also a traditional festival observed by Muslims in China, and the Chinese government takes various measures to ensure the availability of everyday supplies to people of different ethnic groups during the festival. On that day, Muslims across China including those in Xinjiang will celebrate the festival in festive mood by holding religious rites, slaughtering lambs, dining together with relatives and friends and conveying their festival wishes to others.

Ambassador Zhang stressed that respecting and ensuring religious freedom is a basic policy upheld by the Chinese government, and religious freedom is protected under China’s Constitution and other laws as a basic right of citizens. People of 56 ethnic groups in China are closely connected as family members, just like the seeds of a pomegranate that stick together, and stay united to realize the Chinese dream.

Noting the strategic partnership between China and Kuwait, Ambassador Zhang said, facing the once-in-a-century changes, our two nations have always treated each other as equals and supported each other in pursuing peace, development and win-win cooperation to make the world better. He believed that under the leadership of the leaders of two countries and joint efforts from both sides, bilateral strategic partnership is bound to make bigger achievements in the future.

Ambassador Zhang’s exclusive interview will be aired on Kuwait TV during the Corban Festival.
