Ambassador Zhang Ming Attends and Speaks at the First Plenary Session of China Chamber of Commerce to the EU

On May 18, 2020, Ambassador Zhang Ming, Head of the Chinese Mission to the EU, attended and spoke at the First Plenary Session of the China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU) via video conferencing. Minister Xia Xiang for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Chinese Mission to the EU joined the session. Also present were CCCEU President Zhou Lihong, Vice President Wu Shengliang, Vice President Lin Ji and representatives of 51 Chinese enterprises and business associations operating in the EU.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zhang Ming extended congratulations on the convening of the first plenary session of the CCCEU, and spoke highly of the achievements that CCCEU has made over the past year. Ambassador Zhang also expressed appreciation for the good efforts made by CCCEU and its member companies in supporting the response to the pandemic in China and Europe. Ambassador Zhang said that since the outbreak, China and the EU have been in close cooperation and lent each other a helping hand, providing strong support for each other and the global fight against the virus. Despite the impact of the pandemic, the major agenda of China-EU cooperation is still in good shape and moving forward steadily. The two sides continue to move in the right direction. Going forward, cooperation between China and the EU will be further enhanced, expanded and diversified.

Ambassador Zhang asked Chinese enterprises operating in Europe to be forward-looking with greater confidence and commitment. While continuing to strengthen epidemic prevention and control to ensure the safety of their employees, they are encouraged to further explore opportunities in European markets and make greater contributions to the development of China-EU economic and trade cooperation.
