Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong Visits Singapore

From April 19 to 21, 2023, Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong paid a visit to Singapore during which he met respectively with Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Development of Singapore Sim Ann, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Albert Chua, and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry Gabriel Lim. They  exchanged views on China-Singapore relations, and international and regional topics and issues of mutual interest and concern. Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Sun Haiyan was present.

Nong Rong said that recently, President Xi Jinping and the visiting Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong jointly announced to elevate the  China-Singapore relations to an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership, thus drew a blueprint for the development of China-Singapore relations in the new era. China is ready to work with Singapore to follow the guidance of important common understandings reached between the leaders of the two countries, make good and full use of bilateral cooperation mechanisms and platforms, further strengthen high-level interactions, deepen strategic mutual trust, expand mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to truly implement the new positioning of China-Singapore relations, make high quality the most prominent feature of bilateral cooperation, and contribute more positive energy to regional and global peace, stability, development and prosperity.

The Singaporean side thanked China for its warm and friendly hospitality to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during his visit to China. Singapore attaches great importance to growing Singapore-China relations, and stands ready to work with China to unceasingly strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and investment, financial services, digital economy, and green development, strengthen personnel exchanges between the two sides, and follow through on important common understandings between the leaders of the two countries, so as to deliver more tangible benefits to the two peoples.
