It shows the African continent has made a new understanding about the opportunities brought about by Asia's rapid development and it also symbolizes South-South cooperation has entered a new stage. He noted the profound traditional friendship between the two countries has been consolidated in the new period. Bilateral cooperation in various fields has been productive. Ghana expects bilateral relations to be uplifted to a new level.

When talking about enhancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation, Kuffuor spoke highly of the support of the cooperative projects implemented by China to their economic development. He hoped the two countries can further enhance cooperation in infrastructure construction including the modernization of railways and welcomed more Chinese businesses to invest in Ghana.

Hu said the Chinese government gives top priority to developing economic and trade cooperation with Ghana. We would like to jointly promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a higher level on the present foundation in the principle of equality, mutual benefits and common development. He indicated the government supports competent and credible Chinese businesses to participate in the economic construction of Ghana.
