Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu Attends Celebration of the United Nations Day

On October 23, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu attended the celebration of the United Nations Day held by the UN Resident Coordinator in China, and delivered remarks.

On behalf of the Chinese government, Ma Zhaoxu extended congratulations on the 78th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, and said that the world needs more than ever before a stronger United Nations. All need to advance common development and place development issues at the center of the international agenda, safeguard peace and stability, adhere to the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security, and promote exchanges, mutual learning and peaceful coexistence among different civilizations.

Ma Zhaoxu emphasized that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind put forth by President Xi Jinping. Ten years on, guided by the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, China has participated in the work of the United Nations across the board, held high the banner of true multilateralism, firmly safeguarded the UN-centered international system, and supported the United Nations in playing a greater role in international affairs.

Ma Zhaoxu pointed out that the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation has achieved fruitful outcomes and greatly boosted global confidence in development. China is ready to continuously promote in-depth integration between the Belt and Road Initiative and the UN agenda, and carry out in-depth, practical, and effective cooperation benefiting all, so as to bring new hope to the international community to realize sustainable development goals.

Ma Zhaoxu emphasized that China will, as always, support UN agencies in China in adhering to prioritizing development, participate in the process of Chinese modernization in an in-depth manner, and make all-out efforts to promote China's cooperation with the UN to yield new and greater outcomes and effectiveness.
