Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang Meets with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Otávio Brandelli of Brazil

On May 22, 2019, Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Otávio Brandelli, who was accompanying Vice President Hamilton Mourão of Brazil for his visit to China.

Qin Gang spoke positively of China-Brazil relations and expressed that the Chinese side attaches great importance to Vice President Hamilton Mourão's visit and has extended high-level reception to the delegation, expecting the visit to be a complete success. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of China-Brazil diplomatic relations, and bilateral relations are at an important node of inheriting the past and ushering in the future. The Chinese side has always viewed and developed China-Brazil relations from a strategic height and an overall perspective, and stands ready to make joint efforts with the Brazilian side to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and push relations between the two countries for sustained and in-depth development.

Otávio Brandelli thanked the Chinese side for making thoughtful arrangement for Vice President Hamilton Mourão's visit to China, and expressed that President Jair Bolsonaro and the Brazilian government have always attached great importance to developing relations with China, and stand ready to further intensify high-level exchanges between the two countries, deepen cooperation in such key areas as trade, investment as well as science and technology, and enhance local and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to promote bilateral relations for more fruitful outcomes.
