Mexican Ambassador to China Provides Historical Document in Support of the Restoration of New China's Lawful Seat in the United Nations

On June 25, 2021, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Foreign Ministry Yang Tao met with Mexican Ambassador to China José Luis Bernal. Bernal said, a copy of the original text of the speech made by then Mexican President Luis Echeverría Álvarez in support of China at the 26th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on October 5, 1971 was given to China to congratulate the People's Republic of China on and commemorate the 50th anniversary of the restoration of its lawful seat in the UN.

Yang Tao thanked Mexico for its active role in promoting the UN General Assembly to adopt Resolution 2758, saying that the document provided by the Mexican side is a precious historical archive and in particular a testimony to the friendship between China and Mexico. China is willing to continuously step up coordination and cooperation with Mexico in the UN and other multilateral areas and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
