On September 20, 2023 local time, Vice President Han Zheng met with President of Peru Dina Boluarte on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Han Zheng conveyed President Xi Jinping's best wishes to Dina Boluarte. Han Zheng said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations over half a century ago, China-Peru relations have withstood the test of the changing international situation. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Peru comprehensive strategic partnership. Both sides should further consolidate political mutual trust, provide a strong guarantee for practical cooperation, and promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, so as to bring bilateral relations to new heights. Noting that Peru is China's preferred partner for cooperation on the Global Development Initiative (GDI), Han Zheng said China is ready to work with Peru to pursue more in-depth and substantive results in actively promoting the GDI, cooperate with Peru closely in multilateral arenas, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and make the international order more just and equitable.

Dina Boluarte asked Han Zheng to convey her sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. She said Peru-China relations enjoy sound development, and mutually beneficial cooperation boasts great potential. Chinese enterprises are welcome to invest and develop in Peru, and Peru is ready to maintain close high-level exchanges with China and promote practical cooperation in various fields.
