China and Germany Hold the Fourth Round of Consular Consultation

On   February 23, 2022, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of   the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi and her German counterpart co-chaired the fourth   round of China-Germany Consular Consultation via video link.

The   two sides conducted policy communication on concepts and practices of the   consular work, spoke highly of the important role played by the "fast   tracks", and had an in-depth exchange of views on ensuring necessary   personnel exchanges under the situation of regular pandemic prevention and   control and safeguarding citizens' legitimate rights and interests. Wu Xi   asked the German side to take concrete measures to oppose the words and deeds   of discrimination against Asians, especially Chinese citizens, and create a   good living and development environment for Chinese citizens in Germany. Her   German counterpart said, Germany firmly opposes racist discrimination and   will do its utmost to ensure that Chinese citizens in Germany live in a safe   environment.

Germany   congratulated China on successfully hosting the Olympic Winter Games Beijing   2022 and commended China for its considerate services and high-quality venue   construction that have helped athletes achieve good results.

The   two sides agreed to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of   diplomatic ties between the two countries as an opportunity to strengthen   communication and exchanges, pragmatically address each other's concerns,   push bilateral consular cooperation to a new level and contribute to a sound   and stable development of bilateral relations.
