External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping Meets with Afghan Ambassador to China Javid Ahmad Qaem

On March 17, 2021, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping met with Afghan Ambassador to China Javid Ahmad Qaem. The two sides exchanged views on China-Afghanistan relations and inter-departmental and inter-regional security cooperation between the two countries.

Cheng Guoping said that China and Afghanistan are neighbors with traditional friendship. China is willing to work with Afghanistan to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state and deepen cooperation in such fields of security and people's livelihood through inter-departmental and inter-regional mechanism, so as to bring benefits to the two countries and two peoples, and safeguard regional security and stability.

Javid Ahmad Qaem said that Afghanistan attaches great importance to its relations with China and firmly supports China in cracking down the violent and terrorist forces of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement. Afghanistan is ready to work with China to enhance practical cooperation in security and other fields within the framework of inter-departmental and inter-regional mechanism, and jointly push forward the Afghanistan-China strategic partnership of cooperation.
