External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping Meets with Afghan Ambassador to China Javid Ahmad Qaem

On June 16, 2021, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping met with Afghan Ambassador to China Javid Ahmad Qaem. They exchanged views on China-Afghanistan relations, cooperation in counter-terrorism and security, etc.

Cheng Guoping said, this year marks the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation by and between China and Afghanistan. China is willing to work with Afghanistan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, allow such platforms as the China-Afghanistan inter-departmental and inter-regional security cooperation mechanism to play their roles, deepen counter-terrorism and security cooperation, and carry the strategic cooperative partnership between China and Afghanistan continuously forward.

Qaem thanked China for its strong support for peace and stability and economic and social development of Afghanistan. Afghanistan is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields, continue to resolutely crack down on terrorist forces including the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement, and jointly defend regional security and stability.
