On December 8, 2021, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping held a video meeting with Chairman of UAE International Center of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on China-UAE relations, bilateral cooperation on counter-terrorism and security, and relevant international and regional issues. Chinese Ambassador to the UAE Ni Jian attended the meeting via video link.

Cheng Guoping said, the UAE is China's important strategic cooperative partner in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region. This year marks the centenary of the Communist Party of China and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE. China stands ready to take this opportunity to work with the UAE to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and push for greater development of China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership. Counter-terrorism and security cooperation is an important component of China-UAE relations. The two sides should further deepen exchanges and cooperation on counter-terrorism and de-extremism, and contribute to enriching bilateral ties and maintaining security and stability of the two countries and the world.

Ali said, the UAE speaks highly of the fruitful results of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, and stands ready to push for new progress in bilateral friendly relations and exchanges and cooperation in various fields. The world today still faces many security challenges, and the counter-terrorism situation in Afghanistan and Africa remains serious. The UAE is ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China to jointly safeguard international and regional security and stability.
