Iranian President Khatami Congratulated on President Jiang Zemin's Successful Visit to Iran

On April 21, 2002, Iranian President Khatami bid farewell to President Jiang Zemin in a friendly manner and congratulated Jiang on his successful visit to Iran.

Jiang thanked the Iranian government and people for the warm and friendly reception accorded him. He said that his current state visit to Iran is a success and further deepened the traditional friendship between the two peoples. It is believed that with joint care from the leaders of the two countries and joint efforts, the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop in a sound and stable manner in the new century.

Khatami congratulated Jiang on his successful visit. He said that though Jiang's visit to Iran is brief, he had extensive contacts between Iranian leaders and people from all walks of life. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and issues of common concern, and share identical and similar views on many issues. President Jiang's visit will further enhance mutual understanding between the two countries and forcefully promote friendly relations and cooperation between Iran and China in the new century.
