Wang Yi Meets with National Security Advisor to Afghan President Mohammad Hanif Atmar

On April 19, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with National Security Advisor to Afghan President Mohammad Hanif Atmar.

Wang Yi expressed that China and Afghanistan are traditional friendly neighboring countries. The two countries have always trusted and supported each other, and become the important cooperative partners who jointly safeguard regional security and stability as well as co-build the "Belt and Road". China attaches great importance to developing good-neighborly and friendly cooperative relations with Afghanistan, and will continue supporting peace reconstruction and reconciliation process of Afghanistan. China stands ready to, together with Afghanistan, maintain high-level exchanges, and deepen cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, and security, so as to promote China-Afghanistan strategic cooperative partnership to new stages.

Mohammad Hanif Atmar expressed that the Afghan side thanks China's long-term support for peace reconstruction and reconciliation process of Afghanistan. Afghanistan is willing to actively participate in the "Belt and Road" construction, and firmly supports China in cracking down on terrorist organizations including the "East Turkistan Islamic Movement", so as to strive to realize the vision of universal security and common prosperity put forward by President Xi Jinping.
