China and Vietnam Hold the 12th Round of Consular Consultation

On July 30, 2020, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Cui Aimin and Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vu Viet Anh of Vietnam co-held via videolink the 12th round of China-Vietnam consular consultation. Both sides had a friendly, candid and results-oriented exchange of views on strengthening bilateral personnel exchanges and facilitating the resumption of work and production in the context of the regular epidemic prevention and control.

Both sides shared the view that the consular departments of both countries need to well implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, closely combine the current epidemic response situation with the realistic demands of bilateral cooperation in various fields, and actively explore and build new models for personnel exchanges between China and Vietnam as soon as possible. Efforts should be made to establish an institutionalized facilitation arrangement, and at the same time to strengthen the control of illegal entry and exit activities in border areas to avoid the cross-border spread of the epidemic, so as to better serve the epidemic prevention and control and the economic and social development of the two countries, and inject new impetus into to bilateral practical cooperation.
