On October 19, 2021, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping met with Turkish Ambassador to China Abdulkadir Emin Onen. The two sides mainly had in-depth exchanges of views on China-Turkey relations, issues concerning Xinjiang, and counter-terrorism security cooperation.
Cheng Guoping said, in the face of the challenges of COVID-19, China and Turkey have stood together in solidarity to overcome difficulties, and the friendship between the people of the two countries has further deepened. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkey. China is willing to work with Turkey to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, understand and support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and of major concerns, and push forward the continuous development of bilateral relations.
Onen said, as Turkey and China mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship, the two countries have overcome the impact of the pandemic, and made positive progress in cooperation in all areas. Turkey attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and stands ready to follow the vision mapped by the two heads of state to keep strengthening dialogues and cooperation in all areas, and push forward Turkey-China relations to make new and greater progress.
