On August 9, 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited a diplomatic envoy group to the "Face to Face with State Grid Corporation of China", the first event of the "Ambassadors Face to Face with State-owned Enterprises" series. Representatives of 85 foreign embassies in China and representative offices of international organizations in China were present, including ambassadors from 21 countries such as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Brunei, Israel, Lebanon, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Luxembourg, Ireland, Sweden, Australia, Samoa, Jamaica and Ecuador, 20 Chargés d'affaires a.i. of foreign embassies in China, as well as representatives of the African Union and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to China. The event was supported by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.

Chairman and Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) Xin Baoan held a seminar with the diplomats. He said, since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, the SGCC has stuck to practicing the new development philosophy, and served the establishment of a new development paradigm, and explore a path of high-quality development of power grid with Chinese characteristics. The SGCC has actively promoted innovative development, accelerated the development of advanced power transmission technologies, made a number of world-leading original achievements with independent intellectual property rights, and completed a series of world-class innovation projects. It has actively promoted coordinated development, accelerated the construction of backbone grids, pushed for the large-scale development and large-scale optimal allocation of energy resources, and upgraded urban and rural power grids as well as power grids in western and remote areas. Efforts have been made to promote green development, issue and implement the first action plan for "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" among domestic enterprises and build the world's largest "new energy cloud" platform and the smart vehicle-to-everything platform. In its business areas, the SGCC tops others in the world in terms of wind power, solar power generation and hydropower installed capacity, and maintains the utilization rate of new energy at more than 97 percent. It has actively promoted open development and served high-quality Belt and Road cooperation; actively promoted shared development, practiced the SGCC purpose of the people's power industry for the people and improved widespread services, helping China take the lead among developing countries in achieving electricity for everybody. The SGCC will uphold the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind and jointly promote the development of a global energy interconnection to achieve sustainable energy development across the globe. After the seminar, the diplomatic envoys visited the Innovation Exhibition Center of the State Grid Future Science City, the State Grid UHV DC Test Base, and the State Grid Metering Center and Simulation Center of the China Electric Power Research Institute.

Diplomatic envoys said that the "Ambassadors Face to Face with State-owned Enterprises" series events provide an important platform for comprehensively understanding China's practice of the new development philosophy and expanding cooperation opportunities with China. They expressed that under the strong leadership of the CPC, significant development achievements have been made in China's electric power industry. China's large-scale grid construction, leading science and technology as well as magnificent achievements are awe-inspiring. The rapid development of the electric power industry is the epitome of China's booming economy. China's measures in the power sector demonstrate that China has honored its commitment to achieving the goals of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" with practical actions, and reflect its achievements in the research, development and utilization of new energy and renewable energy, which rank at the forefront of the world.
