From April 20 to 22, 2023, Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs of the Chinese Government Qian Bo visited Tonga, during which he met respectively with Tongan Prime Minister Siaosi 'Ofakivahafolau Sovaleni Hu'akavameiliku and Minister for Foreign Affairs Fekita 'Utoikamanu. He had an in-depth exchange of views with the Tongan side on bilateral relations, practical cooperation and international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
