Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao Attends China Investment Forum in Czech Republic

From November 12 to 13, 2013, Vice Foreign Minister and Secretary-General of China-Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Cooperation Secretariat, Song Tao attended the China Investment Forum held in Czech Republic upon invitation and delivered a keynote speech there.

Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao made positive comments on the latest progress achieved in China-Czech relations, and said that adherence to the principles including mutual respect, equality, non-interference in each other's internal affairs is the important foundation to ensure the healthy development of the relations among countries, and is also an important prerequisite for all countries to develop cooperation. China and Czech Republic should seize the strategic meeting point of the developments of the two countries, identify correctly the fields of cooperation, enrich the contents of cooperation, and further upgrade the level of cooperation. Both sides should make good use of the new platform of CEE Cooperation to deepen and expand the pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and promote more comprehensive and balanced development of China-Europe relations. During the Forum, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao also met with Czech President Miloš Zeman, Prime Minister Jiří Rusnok, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Kohout, and other dignitaries from Czech side .

The Czech side spoke highly of the great achievements of China in social and economic development, and believes that the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has transmitted the important message of deepening reform and expanding opening-up. This will also bring new development opportunities to Czech Republic. The Czech side will pursue more firmly the friendly policy towards China, adhere to the One-China Principle, respect China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, strengthen cooperation in fields including economy and trade, investment, tourism and culture on the basis of mutual respect, equality, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, and continue to actively support and participate in the process of CEE Cooperation.

The 2013 China Investment Forum was held by Czech-China Friendship Association, and has been the largest event in recent years that Czech Republic has held to promote economic and trade investment towards China. More than 500 representatives of different sectors from China and Czech Republic participated in the related activities of the Forum.
