Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou Holds Diplomatic Consultation with Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua of Pakistan

On December 10, 2018, Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou held diplomatic consultation with Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua of Pakistan in Islamabad.

Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou expressed that China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership has been running at a high level. Since the establishment of the new Pakistani government, China-Pakistan relations have realized smooth transition. Prime Minister Imran Khan paid an official visit to China and attended the first China International Import Expo. The state leaders of the two countries agreed to strengthen all-weather strategic cooperation and build a closer China-Pakistan community of shared future in the new era, which has charted the course for the development of bilateral relations. The Chinese side will continuously take China-Pakistan relations as the priority of China's diplomacy to promote bilateral relations for better and faster development.

Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua said that Pakistan's relations with China have always been the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy. Regarding China as the most reliable partner and friend, the Pakistani side will be firmly committed to developing Pakistan-China friendly and cooperative relations, unswervingly support China's core interests and staunchly support China in playing a greater leading role in international and regional affairs.

Both sides agreed to jointly well implement the important consensus of the leaders of the two countries, intensify bilateral high-level exchanges, strengthen bilateral communication and coordination in major issues, enrich and expand the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, elevate the level of practical cooperation in economy and trade, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges and join hands to forge an even closer China-Pakistan community of shared future.

Both sides strongly condemned the terrorist attack against China's diplomatic agencies in Pakistan by the terrorist forces of Pakistan and agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in counter-terrorism and resolutely combat terrorism in all forms, and make all-out efforts to ensure the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the security of China's organizations and citizens in Pakistan.

Both sides also made in-depth exchanges of views on international and regional issues of common concern.
