Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang Meets with Newly-appointed Brazilian Ambassador to China Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita

On December 14, 2018, Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with newly-appointed Brazilian Ambassador to China Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita.

Qin Gang welcomed Ambassador Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita to assume his new post in China, and expressed the willingness to provide convenience and support for his fulfillment of duty. Qin Gang noted that Brazil's president-elect will take office on January 1 next year, and China-Brazil relations will open a new chapter. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the Brazilian side, enhance communication and coordination, give play to the strategic leading role of the two Heads of State in the bilateral relations development, adhere to mutual respect, deepen practical cooperation and enhance multilateral coordination, so as to promote China-Brazil relations for sustained, sound and stable development, and continuously achieve new outcomes.

Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita expressed that Brazil-China relations enjoy a solid foundation, which have gone beyond the bilateral scope and had global influence. The Brazilian side attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and will continue to regard the relations with China as a diplomatic priority, and maintain a sound development momentum of relations between the two countries.
