Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang Has Telephone Conversation with CEO of Volkswagen Group China Stephan Wöllenstein

On June 10, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang spoke on the phone at request with Stephan Wöllenstein, CEO of Volkswagen Group China.

Speaking positively of China-Germany relations and cooperation in COVID-19 response, Qin Gang said, with positive progress in pandemic prevention and control, China and Germany need to work together to speed up the resumption of work and production on the premise of ensuring all epidemic prevention and control work is done well, so as to bring economic and social life back to normal as soon as possible. The two sides should implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries and promote exchanges and cooperation in all areas. Qin Gang affirmed Volkswagen Group's further expansion of investment in China and said that the fundamentals sustaining China's long-term and stable economy will remain unchanged. We will unswervingly advance the opening-up, and continue to expand cooperation with other countries, in a bid to create an enabling business environment for Volkswagen Group and other foreign companies in China.

Stephan Wöllenstein congratulated the Chinese side on its important outcomes in fighting the coronavirus disease, and thanked the Chinese side for launching a "fast lane" to facilitate the resumption of work and production of German enterprises and personnel in China. He noted, as the first foreign automobile manufacturer to establish a joint venture in China, Volkswagen Group is full of confidence in China's market opening and future development and will continue to expand investment in China and expand cooperation with the Chinese side.
