Wang Guangya

Vice Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in charge of Affairs of International Organization, Arms Control and Treaty and Law

Born in Jiangsu Province in March 1950, Wang Guangya is a college graduate. From 1972 to 1975, he studied in Student Center of British Council, Wales Atlantic United College and London School of Economics and Politics, UK. From 1975 to 1977, he served as section member, Department of Translation and Interpretation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1977 to 1981, he was staff member and then Attaché in the Chinese Mission to United Nations. From 1981 to 1982, he pursued advanced study in John Hopkins University in United States. From 1982 to 1983, he was Attaché in the Chinese Mission to the UN. From 1983 to 1988, he was Third Secretary and then Deputy Division Chief, Division Chief, Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1988 to 1992, he was Counsellor, Chinese Mission to United Nations. From 1992 to 1993, he was Counsellor and then Deputy Director, Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1993 to 1998, he was Director General, Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1998, he became Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs. In 1999, he was appointed Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is married with a son.
