Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui Meets with Andras Huszty, Special Envoy of the Hungarian Prime Minister and Hungary's Government Commissioner Responsible for Developing Hungarian-Chinese Relations

On May 5, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui met in the Foreign Ministry with Andras Huszty, special envoy of the Hungarian Prime Minister and Hungary's government commissioner responsible for developing Hungarian-Chinese relations.

Li made positive comments on the current China-Hungary relations, expressing thanks for Hungary's consistent support to China on issues concerning Taiwan and Tibet. He hoped that both sides will take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and push bilateral ties to a new level.

Huszty delivered a letter of thanks from new Hungarian Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai in reply to Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, who had sent a congratulatory message to Bajnai on his taking office as Prime Minister. Huszty also conveyed Bajnai's invitation for Wen to visit Hungary. The commissioner emphasized that the new Hungarian government will continue to adhere to the one-China policy and commit to expanding bilateral cooperation of mutual benefit.

Both sides also exchanged views on the global financial crisis, the Shanghai World Expo and other issues.
