On the afternoon of August 31, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, who was in China for a state visit and the attendance at the Dialogue between Emerging Market Economies and Developing Countries.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and Tajikistan are friendly neighbors, and bilateral relations have achieved leap-forward development since the establishment of diplomatic relations 25 years ago. President Xi Jinping held fruitful talks with you, which upgraded bilateral relations and injected new impetus into the development of bilateral relations. The Chinese side is willing to, together with Tajikistan, deepen political mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, enlarge people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and intensify communication and coordination within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other mechanisms, so as to better benefit the two peoples and people in the region.

Li Keqiang pointed out that the Chinese side firmly supports the Tajik people in following a development path suitable to its own national conditions, and stands ready to align the "Belt and Road" initiative with Tajikistan's development strategies to deepen production capacity cooperation in energy, infrastructure construction, processing and manufacturing and other major fields, and improve the level of connectivity in transportation, telecommunications and other fields. It is hoped that the Tajik side could continuously provide convenience for the smooth conduction of bilateral cooperation.

Emomali Rahmon expressed that Tajikistan and China are strategic cooperative partners. Bilateral relations are running at a high level. Bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement and other fields has achieved substantial development. The Tajik side stands ready to, together with China, better integrate development strategies, enhance cooperation in electric power, agriculture, transportation infrastructure construction, finance, tourism and other fields, and advance regional connectivity, in a bid to push forward bilateral relations and cooperation for greater development.
