President Emomali Rakhmon of Tajikistan Meets with Wang Yi

On July 31, 2014, President Emomali Rakhmon of Tajikistan met with Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the presidential palace in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.

Rakhmon said, the Tajik side warmly welcomes President Xi Jinping to pay a state visit to Tajikistan and attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Dushanbe. He believed that this visit would become a new starting point of the relations between the two countries. Tajikistan is willing to expand the cooperation with China in practical fields including trade, energy, agriculture and transportation, deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, enhance the cooperation in law enforcement and security, and create a better future for the two countries and the region.

Wang Yi said, the two heads of state made a series of deployments and plans in terms of pushing forward the strategic partnership in an all-round manner over the past year which play an important role in guiding the development of the bilateral relations. China is willing to, together with Tajikistan, comprehensively and earnestly implement the consensuses reached by the two heads of state, continue to deepen good-neighborly friendship and strengthen all-round cooperation. The current focus is to prepare for President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Tajikistan and his attendance of the SCO Summit in Dushanbe and push China-Tajikistan strategic partnership to a new level. China will spare no efforts to support and cooperate with Tajikistan in hosting the Summit, making sure that the SCO Summit in Dushanbe this year will achieve a complete success.
