Wang Yi Meets with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić of Serbia


On September 24, 2018 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić of Serbia on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Wang Yi expressed that China and Serbia enjoy sincerity and amity, and have consistently and firmly supported each other's core interests and rightful concerns. Since President Xi Jinping's state visit to Serbia in 2016 and the establishment of China-Serbia comprehensive strategic partnership, bilateral relations have enjoyed flourishing development and bilateral cooperation has progressed smoothly. The Chinese side appreciates Serbia's active support for and participation in the Belt and Road Initiative. The joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative will open up broader prospects and provide stronger assistance for China-Serbia cooperation. China is a trustworthy friend of Serbia in the international community, and we are willing to continuously intensify communication and coordination on multilateral affairs with the Serbian side, and work together with Central and Eastern European countries including the Serbian side to promote the "16+1 cooperation" for constant development.

Ivica Dačić expressed that Serbia fully treasures the friendship between the two countries and the two peoples, thanks the Chinese side for its long-term precious support and assistance to Serbia, and stands ready to continue being the best friend and important partner of China in Europe. In recent years, Serbia-China comprehensive strategic partnership has enjoyed sound development. The Serbian side is willing to, together with the Chinese side, strengthen practical cooperation in various fields, and intensify communication and coordination in multilateral affairs, so as to develop closer bilateral relations.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
