China and Bhutan Hold the 22nd Round of China-Bhutan Boundary Talks

On July 25, 2014, head of the Chinese delegation and Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin held the 22nd round of China-Bhutan Boundary Talks with Rinzin Dorje, head of the Bhutanese delegation and Foreign Minister of Bhutan. In a candid and amicable atmosphere, both sides conducted positive and constructive discussions on the boundary issue and bilateral relations.

Liu Zhenmin expressed that in recent years, China-Bhutan relations remain good development momentum and the bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields advance steadily. The Chinese side stands ready to further enhance traditional good-neighborly and friendly relations with the Bhutanese side. The China-Bhutan Boundary Talks have achieved positive progress. The Chinese side is determined and sincere to make joint efforts with Bhutan to seek as soon as possible a just and reasonable solution to the boundary issue that both sides could accept. Before the final settlement, both sides should jointly safeguard the peace and tranquility of the China-Bhutan border region.

Rinzin Dorje expressed that the Bhutanese side attaches great importance to Bhutan-China relations, admires the huge success achieved in China's economic and social development and stands ready to learn and draw on the development experience of the Chinese side, to carry out friendly exchanges in various fields and to strengthen coordination and cooperation on international occasions. The Bhutanese side sincerely hopes to solve the boundary issue between the two countries at an early date and jointly safeguard the peace and tranquility of the border region.
