On July 28, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Foreign Minister Rinzin Dorje of Bhutan, who was holding the 22nd round of China-Bhutan Boundary Talks in China.

Wang Yi said that China and Bhutan are neighbors to each other. Despite of the fact that the two countries have not established diplomatic relationship, China has always adhered to a good-neighborly and friendly policy towards Bhutan. Wang Yi stressed that an early delimitation of boundary and establishment of diplomatic relationship conform to the common interests of the two countries and that the door to exchanges and cooperation in all fields between the two countries will be further opened. Both sides should join efforts to seek a fair and reasonable solution that is acceptable to both sides for the boundary issue at an early date.

Rinzin Dorje expressed that the Bhutanese side attaches great importance to Bhutan-China relations, and stands ready to enhance friendly communication and cooperation between the two sides. The Bhutanese side sincerely hopes the two sides solve the boundary issues at an early date, so as to jointly safeguard the peace and tranquility in the boundary areas.
