Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang Visits Fiji

Zheng Zeguang pays a courtesy call on President George Konrote of Fiji

From July 12 to 14, 2018, Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang paid a working visit to Fiji. During his stay in Fiji, Zheng Zeguang respectively met with President George Konrote, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Frank Bainimarama, Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, and Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ioane Naivalurua of Fiji.

Zheng Zeguang noted that the Chinese side adheres to the principle that all countries, big or small, are equal, upholds the values of friendship, justice and shared interests and the principle of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith, and commits to constantly enhancing unity and cooperation with all developing countries including Fiji and joining hands with all countries across the world to build a community with a shared future for mankind. Leaders of Fiji appreciated that China has upheld justice for developing countries in international affairs, and thanked the Chinese side for its long-term support and assistance for Fiji. The Fijian side firmly upholds the one-China policy. Both sides agreed to actively conduct practical cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, remain committed to safeguarding free trade and multilateral trading system, and maintain the international system with the United Nations as the core.

Zheng Zeguang also inspected projects assisted by China including development of Juncao technology in Nadi as well as reconstruction and expansion of Suva Civic Centre building.
