On 13 December 2000, Premier Zhu Rongji met with German Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Fischer in Hangzhou.

Zhu said that at present China-Germany relations are very good, with friendly cooperation in all areas developing smoothly. He is very glad that the agreements and cooperation projects decided upon by the two sides during his visit to Germany this year are being implemented. The successful convocation of China-Germany Conference on Environmental Cooperation is very important for expanding bilateral cooperation in this area. Germany attaches importance to the promises it has made and sticks to the one-China policy. We appreciate it.

Fischer fully agreed with Zhu's assessment of bilateral relations. He said that the German government attaches importance to developing relations with China and would like to further develop bilateral cooperation in all areas. Fischer conveyed Chancellor Schroeder's cordial greetings to Zhu.
