On February 24, 2011, Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying and visiting State Secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doru Romulus Costea held political consultations between the two Foreign Ministries.

Fu said since the establishment of diplomatic ties over 60 years ago, the two peoples have always been friendly towards each other, despite great changes in the international situation and domestic situations in both countries. Under the new situation, both sides should seize the opportunity and push bilateral ties to a new level. Costea said Romania attaches great importance to developing relations with China and hopes to enhance high-level exchanges with China, identify key cooperation projects in the economic and trade sector and expand humanities and youth contacts.

Both sides also exchanged views on issues including China-EU relations, the Middle East and the Korean Peninsula situation.
