On July 7, 2022, Vice President Hamilton Mourao and Acting Foreign Minister Fernando Simas Magalhães met with visiting Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi respectively. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on China-Brazil relations and the international situation, among others.

Special Representative Qiu Xiaoqi said, in recent years, under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Jair Messias Bolsonaro, China-Brazil relations have witnessed steady and sound development. Practical cooperation in various fields has grown against the headwinds, showing strong resilience and vitality. China has remained Brazil's largest trading partner and export market for 13 consecutive years. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the two countries have helped each other with the friendship being further enhanced. At present, the international situation is undergoing profound and complex changes. The development and growth of emerging markets represented by China and Brazil have become an irresistible historical trend. China is ready to work with Brazil to enhance political mutual trust, tap cooperation potential, strengthen multilateral coordination, jointly implement the outcomes of the 14th BRICS Summit and continue to open up a bright future for China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership.

Mourao spoke highly of the achievements in the development of China-Brazil relations, and expressed the willingness to work with the Chinese side to continue to regard benefiting the two peoples as the beacon guiding the advancement of bilateral relations, continuously cultivate new growth points of bilateral pragmatic cooperation and further improve the quality and level of bilateral relations. The Brazilian side congratulated China on successfully hosting the 14th BRICS Summit and the High-level Dialogue on Global Development, and highly appreciated the key role played by President Xi Jinping and the Chinese government in promoting solidarity and cooperation between BRICS countries and other developing countries. The Brazilian side is ready to join hands with the Chinese side to drive BRICS cooperation to new heights, work for a multi-polar world and democracy around the world, and jointly safeguard the rights and interests of developing countries.

Magalhães said, the Brazilian side cherishes its friendship with the Chinese side and is heartened by the outcomes of the sixth meeting of the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee. The Brazilian side thanked China for its strong support in the country's fight against the pandemic and appreciated the respectable image that Chinese companies have built in Brazil. The two countries have actively carried out cooperation with other emerging countries under the "BRICS plus" mechanism, fully demonstrating the vigor and vitality of the BRICS mechanism and opening up a new broad path for countries around the world to address global challenges in solidarity and with cooperation. Under the new circumstances, Brazil is ready to maintain high-level exchanges and strategic communication with China to constantly enrich the connotation of bilateral relations and push bilateral relations to new heights.

During his visit, Special Representative Qiu Xiaoqi also met with Special Secretary for Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of Brazil Admiral Flávio Rocha and Deputy Foreign Minister Márcia Donner Abreu respectively. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on deepening bilateral relations, expanding pragmatic cooperation between the two countries and strengthening coordination and cooperation in international affairs.
