On July 18, 2019, Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang attended the reception marking the Independence Day of Colombia held by the Colombian Embassy in China. Congratulating Colombia on the 209th anniversary of its independence in his speech, Zheng Zeguang noted, the Chinese side attaches importance to developing China-Colombia relations, and is willing to, together with the Colombian side, strengthen high level exchanges and across various levels as well, and expand cooperation under the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to elevate the friendly relations between the two countries to new levels.
