China and the European Union (EU) Hold the Fourth Assessment Meeting on China-EU 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation

On October 9, 2019, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wang Lutong and Managing Director for Asia and Pacific at the European External Action Service (EEAS) Gunnar Wiegand co-chaired the fourth assessment meeting on China-European Union (EU) 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation in Brussels. Representatives from the Chinese side's departments including Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Commerce and General Administration of Customs, as well as representatives of over 20 departments and executive agencies of European Commission and EEAS were present. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on over 30 cooperation agendas covering four major topics, namely peace and security, prosperity, sustainable development and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Both sides were satisfied with the cooperation momentum between China and the EU, and expected to continue to make joint efforts to push for China-EU practical cooperation in various areas and deepen China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership.
