On October 25, 2022, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Peng held a meeting with journalists from the Africa Sub-center of China International Press Communication Center, and had an in-depth exchange of views with African journalists on the success of the 20th CPC National Congress, and how to advance China-Africa cooperation on the new journey. He also answered questions from the journalists on the debts of Africa, climate change, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and other issues of shared interest and concern.

Wu Peng said that the 20th CPC National Congress came to a successful conclusion several days ago. It is a meeting of great importance held at a critical time as China embarks on a new journey to build itself into a modern socialist country in all respects and advances toward the Second Centenary Goal. It is of milestone significance for China and the world. Wu Peng emphasized that the 20th CPC National Congress provides a systematic and in-depth explanation of Chinese modernization, which means the modernization of a huge population, of common prosperity for all, of material and cultural-ethical advancement, of harmony between humanity and nature, and of peaceful development. It offers a new choice for China's development and human progress. China will, under the guidance of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, continue to expand and deepen practical cooperation with Africa in various fields, so as to inject new impetus into the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
