Shen Bo briefed on the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and said that the 20th CPC National Congress has made strategic plans for building a modern socialist country in all respects, made coordinated efforts to advance the development in various undertakings of the Party and the country, and provided fundamental guidance for the development of the human rights of China. China will remain committed to following a Chinese path of human rights development, actively participate in global human rights governance, and advance the sound development of international human rights.

China congratulated South Africa on being elected as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the term 2023-2025. The two sides exchanged views and reached broad consensus on each other’s new progress in the national human rights cause, the international human rights situation, and multilateral human rights work, among others. Both sides agreed that efforts should be made to strengthen communication and cooperation in the field of human rights, jointly oppose the politicization of the human rights issue, oppose the interference in the internal affairs of developing countries with the excuse of human rights, and safeguard international fairness and justice and the common interests of developing countries.
