On March 2, 2023, Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong met with Lao Ambassador to China Khamphao Ernthavanh.

Nong Rong said President Xi Jinping, also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, reached important common understandings on further deepening the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future with General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith during his visit to China  last November, and departments and localities of the two countries are making all-out efforts to implement them. Focusing on the implementation of the important common understandings reached by top leaders of the two parties and countries, China is ready to work with Laos to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, deepen mutual learning on the Party and state governance, push forward the smooth operation of major projects including the China-Laos Railway, and work for new achievements in building a China-Laos community with a shared future. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the building of a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future proposed by President Xi Jinping. China is ready to work with Laos to build a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home.

Khamphao Ernthavanh said all LPRP members and Lao people of all ethnic groups speak highly of China’s commitment to pursuing Chinese modernization with a people-centered philosophy, which will bring benefits to Laos and other countries in the world as well as humanity. Laos thanks the CPC and the Chinese government for providing valuable support and assistance for the country’s economic and social development, and stands ready to work with the Chinese side to speed up the implementation of the outcomes of General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith’s visit to China, advance exchanges and cooperation in various fields in a coordinated way, and constantly enrich the dimension of the Laos-China community with a shared future. Laos is ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China in regional multilateral affairs and jointly build an even closer ASEAN-China community with a shared future.
