Chinese Ambassador to PNG Yang Xiaoguang Attends the Float Parade Celebrating PNG’s 50th Anniversary of Independence in the National Capital District

On May 16th, Chinese Ambassador to PNG H.E. Yang Xiaoguang attended the float parade celebrating PNG's 50th Anniversary of Independence in the National Capital District. PNG Prime Minister James Marape, Foreign Minister Justin Tkachenko, and Governor for National Capital District Powers Parkop attended the event.

During the event, Ambassador Yang was interviewed by the local media. The Ambassador congratulated PNG on the 50th anniversary of independence, and said that under the strategic leadership of the leaders of the two countries and the joint efforts of the two sides, China-PNG cooperation has achieved fruitful outcomes in recent years, benefiting our two countries and the two peoples. Next year we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and PNG. China stands ready to work hand in hand with all PNG friends to deepen political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, and bring the China-PNG comprehensive strategic partnership to a new height.

The local Chinese community actively participated in the parade. China-PNG Friendship Association contributed three floats combining traditional Chinese culture with local elements of PNG, and displayed traditional Chinese folklore such as dragon and lion dances. Chinese floats became a highlight of the parade, and was warmly applauded by the local people.
