Chinese Consul General in Sydney Wang Yu Attends 2025 Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition

On May 25, H.E. Consul General Wang Yu attended and delivered a speech at the 2025 “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for New South Wales Preliminary Round. Over 100 people attended, including Deputy Mayor of Strathfield Benjamin Cai, Parramatta City Councillor Charles Chen, and judges, contestants, teachers.

Wang Yu stated that President Xi Jinping’s Global Civilization Initiative conveys China’s sincere desire to promote exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations and to advance human civilization. The Consulate-General looks forward to working with friends from all sectors to continue promoting Chinese language education and strengthening cultural exchanges, thereby solidifying public support and injecting strong momentum into building a more mature, stable, and fruitful China-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He also encouraged the contestants to visit China, to see and experience the country firsthand, and to share real stories of China-Australia exchanges, becoming “civilian ambassadors” between the two nations.

After fierce competition, William Saunders from Trinity Grammar School and Thomas Collins form University of New South Wales won first prize for Secondary School Student Competition and College Student Competition respectively.
